Academy of Music and Sound

The Academy of music and sound in Southampton (joint working with Tauntons College) are starting a level 2 course this September and there are still places.

The course is aimed at those young people aged 16-19 with a keen interest in music who may not have achieved any GCSEs or have no practical music experience - they do not have to currently play an instrument.

  • There is no need for a practical assessment at this level.
  • The course will involve private tuition in the students chosen instrument (Guitar/bass/drums or vocals).
  • Students will be encouraged take GCSE resits/A-levels alongside the 12 hour a week programme.
  • Additional costs: £200 course fees to cover master classes and activities. (£450 at level 3) can be paid in instalments.
  • For next years applicants for both level 2 and 3 take the normal route applying through Tauntons College.

Open day: Saturday 1st September 12 - 4pm at Sound Control (Queensway Southampton) interested young people should call David Dorothy 023 8082 9666 to book a free place.
